Privacy notice
When you ask for a price or book a clean, you give us a few details, like your name, number and postcode. This page explains what we keep, why, for how long, and how to see it or have it deleted.
About us
This website belongs to Clean and Clear Exterior Cleaning, a window and exterior cleaning business run by Matthew Stephenson in Welwyn, Hertfordshire (AL6). [To confirm with Matthew: the legal name, for example 'Matthew Stephenson trading as Clean and Clear Exterior Cleaning', and that he is happy for his name to appear on this page as the person responsible for your information.]

The information you send us
Whether you call, email or WhatsApp us, this is what usually reaches us. Our quote form works the same way: pressing send opens WhatsApp with your answers filled in, and nothing is stored on this website.
- Your nameSo we know who we're talking to.
- Your phone number or email addressWhichever you contacted us on, so we can reply about your quote and your booking.
- Your postcode, and your address if you bookSo we can check we cover your area and find your house on the day.
- Your messageWhat you'd like cleaned, the size of your house and anything else you choose to tell us, such as how to get round to the back.
- Photos you sendPictures of your windows, gutters, roof, drive or patio help us price the job properly. Please keep people and number plates out of shot; we only need to see the part we're pricing.
- Records of the workIf you become a customer, we also keep a note of the work we've done for you and what you've paid.
What we do with it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, work out your price, agree a date, do the job and, if you're a regular customer, arrange your next visit. We don't use it for anything else, apart from keeping the records the law requires and the job photos explained below.
The law allows us to do this because you've asked us for a quote or a job, and we can't give you either without your details. We also have to keep some records of work and payments for tax. [To confirm with Matthew: the lawful basis for each use, including the job photos.]
Photos of our work
We take before and after photos of the areas we clean. We may use some of them on this website to show our work. Before we do, we blur or crop out house numbers, faces, car number plates and anything personal, and we never give your name or street.
If you'd rather we didn't use photos of your home, just tell us and we won't. If one is already online, we'll take it down. [To confirm with Matthew: this matches what he does.]
Cookies and visiting this website
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. [To confirm before publishing: check the website host's settings for analytics, chat widgets and tracking. If any non-essential cookies are set, list them here and give visitors a clear way to turn them down.]
Like any website, the company that hosts it keeps short technical logs, such as your IP address and the type of device you use, to keep the site working and secure.
The fonts on this site load from an outside font service, so that service also sees your IP address when a page opens. [To confirm: remove this line if the fonts are moved onto this website's own hosting.]
Who else handles it
We never sell your information, and we don't pass it to other businesses for their marketing.
The only others who handle it are the services we run the business on: our email service, WhatsApp for messages, and the company that hosts this website. They store and carry your information so we can do our job. [To confirm with Matthew: whether he also uses a booking, invoicing or accounting app. If he does, name it here.]
Some of these providers store information outside the UK, for example in the US. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires. [To confirm with Matthew.]
Beyond that, we only share your information if the law requires it, for example for tax.
How long it stays on file
If you ask for a price and don't go ahead, we delete your details within 12 months.
If you're a regular customer, we keep your details while we're cleaning for you, and for 12 months after your last clean.
Records of jobs and payments are kept for 6 years, as tax rules require. After that we delete them.
You can ask us to remove your details sooner at any time. See 'Your choices' below.

Your choices
You have a say over your information. Use the Email or WhatsApp buttons at the bottom of this page and tell us what you'd like.
We may ask you to confirm who you are before we share anything, so your details never go to the wrong person. We'll reply as quickly as we can, and within one month.
- See what we holdWe'll tell you what information we have about you and send you a copy.
- Put it rightIf something is wrong or out of date, such as a new phone number, we'll correct it.
- Have it removedWe'll delete your details. If we have to keep a record for tax, we'll explain what we're keeping and why.
- Ask us to stop or pauseIf you'd like us to stop using your details for something, or hold off while we check a problem, tell us and we will, unless the law says we have to keep using them. We'll explain what that means for any booking.
- Raise a concernIf something isn't right, we'd like to hear from you first so we can sort it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
